Students and RaginСAPP Cajun fans will be able to СAPPYell Like HellСAPP at the traditional pep rally led by head football coach Mark Hudspeth, players and cheerleaders.
It will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29, in the Student Union courtyard.
Members of the 2015 Homecoming Court will be presented to the student body at the pep rally. Senior football players will escort them.
The Pride of Acadiana Marching Band and the RaginСAPP Jazz Dance Team will perform.
СAPPStudent groups will try to outdo each other to see whoСAPPs the most spirited, and weСAPPre encouraging everyone who attends to wear their best 1980s attire,СAPP said Ruben Henderson, assistant director of student activities for the СAPP Program Council.
The UPC sponsors the СAPPYell Like HellСAPP pep rally. It is free and open to the public. Alcohol is prohibited.
Homecoming Week activities continue on Friday, Oct. 30, with the Bill Bass Open Golf Tournament and a tennis tournament.
Golfers participating in the four-person scramble will tee off at Les Vieux Chenes Golf Course at 8 a.m., and again at 1 p.m. Registration begins 90 minutes before each tee time. Up to 60 teams will play in the tournament. It also will feature competitions for longest drive, closest drive to the cup and a putting contest.
СAPPItСAPPs a fun tournament, designed to give players, including out-of-towners who might be visiting for Homecoming, a chance to enjoy some golf and camaraderie,СAPP said Dan McDonald, event chair.
The tennis tournament will be held at Red LerilleСAPPs Health and Racquet Club. As many as 48 teams will compete in mixed doubles matches. Play will start at 8 a.m. and continue throughout the day.
That night, at Downtown Alive!, a UL Lafayette pep rally will feature RaginСAPP Cajuns football players, coaches and cheerleaders. Keith Frank and the Soileau Zydeco Band will play at 6 p.m. at Parc Sans Souci. Fans can get there a little early to cheer on the team.
Also Friday night, the СAPP Wind Ensemble will perform its annual Homecoming Concert at 7:30 p.m. in Angelle Hall. The "Globetrotting and HomecomingСAPP concert will feature music inspired by each of the worldСAPPs seven continents.
The concert is free and open to the public.
